7 Easy Last-Minute Ideas To Make Your Church Guests Feel Welcome
It's Saturday, and you're probably anticipating getting your First Impressions team ready for church this weekend. You've got your way-finding signage ready to go, volunteer team members scheduled and confirmed, and you've been praying for the guests who are coming to your church tomorrow.
But now what? There must be something more you can do to make your guests' first impression at your church a little extra special.
We've worked with thousands of churches helping them with their signage and making a great first impression for their guests, so we've put together a list of 7 'last minute' ideas that you can use to wow your guests tomorrow!
- Put mints around your church. At the front door, by the coffee stand, on the restroom sink, or in the kids hallway. Nobody likes bad breath (or wondering if they have bad breath) so putting out individually wrapped mints can easily remove this distraction from guests visiting your church.
- Send your team a text. Let them know you're praying for them and encourage them to pray for the guests that will come to your church tomorrow.
- SMILE! There's a lot going on and you may have some unexpected surprises come up tomorrow, but through it all, smile and encourage your team to smile. Remind them at your morning huddle, remind them after prayer, remind them as you walk by, and remind yourself. Smiles are contagious and make your guests feel welcome.
- Ask a few people who have been considering joining your team to shadow you tomorrow. Send a text. It can't hurt to have extra team members, and seeing a full team of people waiting to help is encouraging for guests.
- Ask your Pastor if there's anything you can do to help prep for tomorrow. If there's something you can take of their plate, then they can focus more on what they want to present which will impact your guests.
- Clean the windows, sweep or vacuum the floor, put in fresh garbage bags, and do a quick spot inspection in the restrooms. It could mean arriving 10 minutes early tomorrow, but that could be the difference between finger prints on the front windows, or having clean windows (that probably won't be noticed - that's a good thing!)
- Bring snacks for your team. Your team will be at their best if they're not hungry because someone's alarm didn't go off and they didn't have time for breakfast, or someone else had an early breakfast and can't wait to leave for lunch. Granola bars, snack-sized chips, homemade brownies, or a dozen donuts from the drive-thru in the morning can make a big difference for how your team is feeling and how they interact with your guests.
Since it's Saturday, it's too late to order new signs for tomorrow morning BUT plenty of time to order signs for next week. If you choose a design from our catalog, we can ship most of our products the next day, and if you want something customized, we'll do that for free and ship it the day after you've approved the design.
