Church decoration ideas for spring
With the new season of spring comes a new idea of refreshing what we see and how we see it. This is a great time to consider refreshing the decorations around the church. From outdoor signage and flower beds to stage design and more, there are several areas to consider as we transition from winter into spring.
Here are several church decor ideas for spring:
#1 - Change the color palette
Winter months typically include the traditional red, green, gold, and white colors for Christmas. As we move into spring, it’s time to change the theme over to pastels and brighter colors. Any place settings for special events, table decorations, signage, kids' areas, and the main auditorium should get a refresh with brighter spring colors.
If your church has a specific brand color scheme, keep that in mind as you decide what colors to use on the stage, on social media graphics, and on print materials. You don’t always have to use the brand colors for decorations, but some color schemes might work better than others.
#2 - Bring in the flowers
Flowers are one of the first things that come to mind when we think about the spring months.
Use artificial flowers to decorate the inside for a nice centerpiece arrangement for the main stage if the warmer weather hasn’t quite come to your region just yet.
Plant flowers such as tulips, lilies, or other blooms that work well for your region in the landscaping areas around the church property.
Create a few fresh flower arrangements to decorate the main sanctuary, at the welcome center, or in other highly visible areas around the church.
Dress up spring graphics on social media, in print materials, and on any backdrops or banners with flowers as well.
#3 - Update the stage design
Consider leveraging these spring worship banner designs to refresh your stage design this year. Flowers, fabric, backdrops, and other design elements in pastel or light colors can provide an updated look for your main stage.
Gather a few volunteers who can come up with ideas to decorate the main stage. It's amazing what talented volunteers can create with a few flowers, a few jars, some hot glue, and a sharp eye for design.
#4 - Facilitate a Spring Cleaning Day
If the church facilities could use a deep cleaning and updating, consider organizing a volunteer spring cleaning or church beautification day. Walk around the church facilities and make detailed notes of areas that need attention.
- Scuffs on walls or areas that need to be repainted
- Grout that needs scrubbing
- Cracks in the sidewalk
- Potholes in the parking lot
- Welcome mats that are worn out or no longer effective
- Burned-out light bulbs
- Children’s ministry areas that could use a deep cleaning
- Worn-out carpet or other flooring
- Landscaping that needs updating with new mulch and flowers
- Children’s ministry rooms, nursery, and all classrooms to decorate for spring
Once you have the list of projects, gather the needed supplies and decide what day(s) to perform the work. Ask for volunteers and be prepared with paint, plants, flowers, gardening supplies, snacks, and water to help them accomplish the work quickly.
#5 - Refresh the outdoor signage
The signs you display outside provide the initial impression for people as they pull into the parking lot.
Set the scene for a spring welcome and help visitors quickly find the main entrance with our outdoor church signs.
Whether you want new spring decor signs for your light poles or sidewalk signs to point guests to children’s check-in, we have a variety of options available.
#6 - Change screen backgrounds
If your church uses screens in the main sanctuary to display worship lyrics or sermon notes, go ahead and change the background to one that aligns with your spring decor. Pastel colors, fields of flowers, and spring scenes are just a few ideas of what to use for your screen backgrounds.
#7 - Update table decorations
Use our church table throws with spring-like colors and designs for your welcome center, volunteer signup, children's check-in, or other booths you may have in the main lobby area. Updating a few table decorations can completely change the look and feel of the lobby or other rooms. Create a floral centerpiece for the welcome center or other main tables.
#8 - Brighten Kids Ministry Areas
Help the littlest members of the congregation learn about the changing seasons. Create a spring scene with a bunch of felt flowers, decorate with bright colors, and hang up fun posters. Gather cute pictures of baby ducks, chicks, and bunnies and place them around the room.
The coming of spring brings to mind warmer temperatures, brighter colors, fresh flowers, and sunnier days. Use that as inspiration as you look to decorate for the spring season. Even with a small budget, you can fill the church with the anticipation of spring.
