Winter Decoration Ideas For Churches
It seems like the whole year is a build-up toward Christmas.
The decorations, the lights, the music, the parties, outreach events, concerts, and candlelight services, and while nobody is in a rush to "redecorate" the church after Christmas, we've come up with some simple ways you can convert your Christmas decor to winter decor.
Church Decoration Ideas For Winter:
1) Print your Church banners double-sided
Many of the banners in our catalog can be printed double-sided, from wall-hanging banners to stage backdrops to outdoor vinyl signs.
With that in mind, order your Christmas banners so that the back side matches your new January theme - whether just a winter design, a new year design, or matching your January sermon series.
You can turn your stage from a red and green Christmas postcard or a fireplace Christmas stage design to your January sermon series background simply by picking up that stage backdrop banner and turning it around.
Change the look of your foyer by turning around the tension banners in the entrance or rotating the vinyl signs that line the hallway.
2) Leave up some decorations and take down others
You might not want the red and green tinsel on the trees post-Christmas, but if you need to gradually put decorations away (so the church doesn't go from glitz and glamour to noticeably bare) then leave up the trees.
Decorate them with some spray snow, remove the twinkling lights and the presents from underneath, and enjoy the beauty of winter.
If you've set up a fireplace for a Christmas feel, that can continue to be a conversation area for the rest of winter. Pull up a few chairs and decorate the mantle with pictures of people in your church as if it's a living room. If the fireplace was set up as part of your stage design, move it to the foyer with some comfortable chairs for a welcoming conversational atmosphere but a noticeable difference from your Christmas setup.
If your church is in an area that doesn't get snow, these touches can bring nostalgia from people who have moved from cooler climates, and if your church is in an area that does get a snowy winter, a warm fire with a few chairs around will be a welcome relief from being outside.
Remove the apparent references to Christmas from your decor, and replace them with a wintery feel to give yourself a few steps between full-blown Christmas decor and a "back-to-usual" look a couple of Sundays later.
3) Change out your Christmas Colors
Since we associate red and green with Christmas, it's good to remove those colors from your decor to show a new design style is in place.
Products like handheld signs are easy to order and store, so instead of that red design that you've been using, you can hand out a new set of handheld signs for your parking lot team.
Store the reds and greens for later in the year and the Christmas versions for next Christmas.
The same is true of tablecloths - since many churches have tables for event registrations or first-time guests.
By replacing those tablecloths in a matter of minutes, you can change the entire look and feel of your space - a simple switch to a white tablecloth with "Welcome" or your logo can make a noticeable difference to the feel of your space, even compared to a solid red or solid green table cloth.
Remember that it's not about whether or not this is a "Christmas" design, but simply the red and green color scheme that need a break.
